How we help

Formed in 2016, Mariachi Tradicional Juvenil ensemble came together on the streets of Chicago’s rapidly changing neighborhoods of Little Village and Brighton Park, where working immigrant communities co-exist with over 4,000 shootings at least per year.

It came to our attention that the streets and neighborhoods of  Chicago have become a dangerous place to raise our next generation of professionals, leaders, and dreamers. And that we, as a community, have sometimes placed too much responsibility on our city's leaders and police force to fix this problem. The truth is that ALL of us should play a role in raising up Chicago's next generation of professionals, leaders, and dreamers

We felt the need to give our youth something more to live for, something to aspire to, something to put healthy time and energy into. Knowing that the City of Chicago offers many programs none of them offer what we wanted for our youth so in turn we created Mariachi Arts and Culture Academy and its ensemble Mariachi Tradición Juvenil

Was established to cultivate and instill in the future generations the Art and Culture of Mariachi Music. MACA aims to provide opportunities for the youth to carry on the Art and Culture of Mexico's richness by reaching out to different cultural and socioeconomic communities in the Chicago area. Our main goal to cultivate the love and importance Mariachi Music plays as a tradition in our Mexican Culture.
